MISSION

Our mission is to foster a supportive environment for writers, filmmakers, and theater professionals to learn and improve their craft through workshops, seminars, and interactive productions of original works by its members.

Our community lends support while also encouraging an environment of competition. We strive to uncover the industry 'secrets' to level the playing field for our members. Instead of hoarding and withholding elemental information from new writers & producers, we share it, in order to continually challenge each other to the end goal of creating better works. Our goal is for each member to achieve the best writing and production they can reach.

Our mission, in short, is to produce and encourage production of original works.

HOW IT BEGAN

Agony Productions was founded by a group of writers in 2000 as contestants in Miramax's first 'Project Greenlight' contest. Agony started out as a group of writers who shared a passion for screenwriting, and quickly grew into a full-fledged production company. Our goal was, and is, to provide New York with a production company and support system for writers of theater and film focused on helping said writers see their works reach the stage and screen. Since our inception our members have produced and screened several short films, won a myriad of screenwriting contests, and produced original works on stage.

OUR GOALS

Our foremost goals are to find and nurture the talent of writers and filmmakers in the New York area and work towards establishing Agony Productions as a unique, viable, and successfully supported production company for New York area writers of stage and film pieces.

Agony members have written several guides to writing and producing for new members, and held several writing seminars. Our members will continue to collaborate on independent videos & films, and produce original theatrical endeavors.

Agony Productions will focus on producing members' scripts on stage and screen, as well as producing seminars for New York City writers, filmmakers, and theater professionals.
